For skate projects working to include displaced youth an extra emphasis has to be put on fostering togetherness and belonging.
Building connections within the group—not just skating skills—is essential, as when the young people feel seen, valued, and safe to be themselves, they’re more likely to keep showing up and thrive within the group.
