In the first webinar hosted by the Open Boarders Network, Ruby and Mahmoud gave an overview of who we mean when we talk about displaced communities, the impact of skateboarding on youth, particularly those from underserved and displaced communities, and the potential role of skateboarding in emotional regulation and well-being. They also addressed the challenges and barriers in setting up skateboarding programs in marginalized communities, and shared strategies for promoting inclusion and preventing bullying. The team also discussed the importance of safety and well-being in skateboarding programs, and the potential for partnerships with other organizations to improve the programs.
