There's actually not so much academic or third-party research out there on the benefits of skateboarding, so I thought I'd start a thread where we can share these articles. Here's some of the newest research on the topic:

Beyond the Board: Findings from the Field
The Tony Hawk Foundation and the University of Southern California just published their study on "the relationship between skateboarding, mental health, community, race, gender, and perceived skills," based on data collected through 5000 skateboarders who were surveyed. Find out more here.

Having more data like this that backs up the positive changes we see through our work can be very helpful, especially when communicating with our supporters and donors.

If you know of other research, please link below!

This short video presentation (9 mins) is a case study on the global womxn's skateboarding community, created alongside a certificate / short course I am doing in Counselling and Mental Health at the University of Western Sydney, Australia. It assesses the challenges and goals of this community, explores why this community is important for mental well being, and proposes possible solutions - giving examples of ones that have proven success so far. Thoughts and feedback are very welcome!
