In August and September we've been holding Goodpush Alliance webinars on the topic of how social skate projects can take action to be anti-racist and support the Black Lives Matters movement.

Let's use this thread to share ideas and resources that can be useful for the social skate community to promote anti-racism in our:

  • Programs
  • Organizational structures
  • The wider non-profit / development sector

I'll kick it off with a short article called White Supremacy Culture which I found super helpful for thinking about how to improve organizational structures and culture. It gives a list of the characteristics of white supremacy culture and shows how the unchallenged acceptance of these norms and standards can be damaging to both people of colour and white people.

This is also a good place to share ideas on collective actions we can take together to counter structural racism.

Cool thanks Rhianon!

Thanks

UPDATE: For anyone interested in this topic, a working group of social skateboarding projects are currently putting together a Commitment to Anti-Racism in Skateboarding, which will be launched this Spring. If you would like to know more or be involved, get in touch with goodpush(at)skateistan.org!
